Frequently Asked Questions How much do you charge? This is always a deciding factor but who you choose to photograph you and your wedding should not be totally based on price. Talk to your photographer and ask the question we are answering here. We are creating a custom heirloom, it has a price...it has a value! Our lowest priced package is $1800. Our most popular package is the Deluxe which is $3275 (usually adding the proofs) and our "exclusive" tops out at $4300. We understand budget constraints and sometime we may be only 10% of the wedding budget and sometimes we might be 80%. It depends on how you feel about the importance of photography. For details How much is the bridal portrait? Click on "Bridal Portraits" for the link to that page where you will find more information including pricing. How much is the deposit? $250 is required to book the date When is the balance due? The balance is due 10 days prior to the wedding. Are you available? email us at onsightp@aol.com If you do not hear from us in 24 Hr, then give us a call at 757 238-9922. May, June, July, Aug and Oct are the most common months and can be booked a year in advance. How many pictures will I get? The contract says 150 - 200. However, our lowest was around 220 and the most was around 360. This would depend on the size and duration of the wedding. When we receive the proofs we sort them and discard those that are not to our standard, closed eyes, duplicates etc. You get the rest to select. How many pictures will I get in my album? Depending on the package that you select you will be allotted an amount of "photo credit." For example, if you select the "Royal Wedding Package", it would include a $500 photo credit. If you prefer a lot of pictures then you can spend your credit on all or mostly 4X5's. If you prefer an album with all 8X10's then you can select 20 (20 X $25 = $500) Or ANY combination that YOU choose. Do you sell the proofs? Yes. Click on "For Details" above and go to page 2. Who will be the person that photographs my wedding? You hire us, you get us. We are David and Phyllis Cornelius and we own the business. There are no others. What if you can't make it or your camera fails to work? We do have a backup if one of us is unable to photograph the wedding but either of us is capable of going solo. So far, that has never happened. We have one medium format camera and 2 quality 35mm cameras. Equipment is inspected, cleaned and tested prior to each wedding. Do you ever shoot more than one wedding a day? No, We did have the opportunity and it was tempting but we work hard and we felt we could not give the second wedding 100%. Once we receive your deposit, that day is booked. Do you offer custom prints? Yes. We offer custom oil enhancements, museum quality canvas, and hand applied brush strokes. We can also have our lab do digital correcting of blemishes, "remove" braces or just about any imperfections or improvement that you would find in a print. They will also touch up the negative if possible so that each reordered print from that negative does not bear the added cost of individual custom printing. Film or negatives are pick-up at and delivered to our door by carrier 3 times a week. Do you sell the negatives? No. We do not sell the negatives. We set up photos that are composed and lighted for the best exposure. We bring experience, technical skills and expensive equipment to the event! We produce quality images and put our name on the final product. By releasing the negatives, we release the copyright to our work and the legal right to use the photos. We would also be giving up the ability to control the final quality of any prints. Do you charge for travel? There is no charge for travel within the Hampton Roads and Williamsburg areas. Overnight lodging required for evenings, out of town, weddings. Do you give discounts? No, as a rule, it seems to get us into some conflicts and we have found that by staying with the price list, there are no disappointments or surprises. When so many people may be involved in purchasing pictures and so many people referring us to their friends, it is impossible and unfair to start giving and not giving discounts. We have studied and tweaked our price list to give you the best prices for the time, equipment and experience that we bring to your wedding. There are those that offer "tonight only" prices and special deals. We are not pushy sales people and do not use techniques that might force you to purchase services that you may not want. How much experience do you have? We have done many weddings and we know what we are doing and what pictures you want us to take. We probably did our first wedding 25 years ago. We got out of it for a while and then decided to begin OnSight Photography in 1997 and have held a City of Suffolk Business License since then. What kind of equipment do you use? We use the medium format, Pentax 645N with a Quantum, QFlashX2 flash. We also have two 35mm cameras (Canon) that are used primarly for backup. We us primarily Fuji film that is kept in a refrigerator until the day of the wedding. We also bring a couple of tripods. We will also be shooting with digital. We use a Canon 20D rated at 8.5 megapixel and (2) 1gb cards. Are you a member of Professional Photographers Organizations? Yes. We are members of VPPA (Virginia Professional Photographers Association) ,PPA and WPPI. (see our home page) We are listed at www.vppa.org in the tidewater area of Virginia. We are not members of the Better Business Bureau nor are most photographers. There is a Tidewater VPPA governor that would certainly work in a similar capacity as the BBB. As a member, we are held to a strict "Code of Conduct" and would do our best to maintain our membership. More importantly, we want to build our business on customer referral and we want you to be delighted with our services. As far as we know, we have 100% customer satisfaction.
